Description
Located in the Serra de Sintra region of Portugal, this paragliding site is primarily used by hang gliders and is known for its technical flights. The launch area is situated at an altitude of approximately 455 meters, with a maximum altitude difference of 465 meters. The site offers various launch options, with wind directions ranging from southwest to west.
The flights here are typically short to medium in duration, often leading to the coast. The site record is 4.4 km. The terrain provides limited dynamic lift, making the flights quite technical. The best landing spots for paragliders are mid-slope clearings along the mountain paths. Be cautious of the tall bramble vegetation, which can be deceptive from the air.
Launch is located on the left side of the path between the parking area and Peninha. Landings can be made either at the launch site or on private land near the EN 247 road. The wind direction is generally from southeast to south, with wind speeds between 15 km/h and 20 km/h. The site can accommodate up to 10 wings at a time and is suitable for pilots of levels 1 to 5.
Parking is available at the public parking lot of Peninha. Note that specific conditions and restrictions are posted on-site by the PNSC services.
