Description
Located in California, USA, this paragliding site features a takeoff elevation of 1168 meters with a height difference of 532 meters. It is considered medium-difficult and is primarily used for hang gliding, particularly from a cliff launch. This site is suitable only for experienced paragliding pilots due to its challenging nature. Cross-country flights are possible from this location.
The lower cliff launch faces east and requires solid launching skills. The recommended wind speeds range from a minimum of 0 to an ideal of 8, with a maximum of 14 and gusts up to 5. The ideal wind direction is between 50 and 90 degrees. The minimum glide ratio is 6.3.
This launch is an extreme vertical cliff launch, making it perilous for launch assistants. Only highly experienced pilots and assistants should participate in hang gliding activities here. The launch ramp is situated in a small depression, providing minimal ground clearance for hang glider wings, and the rear of the launch area is bordered by a rising cliff face.
Paragliding from the lower cliff launch, its parking area, or the road turnaround is strongly discouraged due to the high risk involved.
