Description

Gringlay is the premier takeoff site in Luxembourg, frequently used by local paragliders. It offers excellent local soaring opportunities, although cross-country (XC) flights are somewhat limited. The site is highly regarded, but it's important to note that there are no better alternatives in the region. Region: Luxembourg Site record: 33.5 km More information: [Cumulux](http://www.cumulux.lu) Watch flights from Gringlay: - [Flight 1](

) Located in the Valley of Sauter near Lipperscheid-Delt, the site has many rules and limited possibilities for XC flights. For more details, visit the [Cumulux Club](http://www.cumulux.lu). Rules for Gringlay: - Each pilot must present a valid pilot license. - Have valid aerial liability insurance. - Use a wing covered by a valid control certificate. - Carry a reserve parachute. - Use a harness with a protector. - Wear an adequate helmet. - Get informed about the site's specifics and dangers from an active club member. The club reserves the right to deny access if these conditions are not met. Flight Directives: - Visit the landing zone before each flight and check weather conditions and wind direction using wind socks. - Respect priority rules: the pilot with the cliff on their right has priority. - Due to the slope size, only 5 pilots can share the airspace simultaneously if conditions limit flying near the cliff. - Maximum flight altitude is 1067 m (3500 ft AMSL). - Begin the landing phase from a height of 100m AGL. - For distance flights, respect the airspace around the site (see attached aeronautical chart). For paragliding school information, visit [ASALux](http://www.asalux.lu). Weather updates can be found at [DWD](www.dwd.de) under the gliding weather report for Saarland and Rheinland Pfalz (Frankfurt). Takeoff/Flight: The wind should come directly up from the valley. Due to the terrain, light side winds (from the West and NW) can create rotors in front of the takeoff point. Pay attention to the terrain drop during the takeoff run. Height restriction is 300 m above the takeoff point. Access: Bourscheid and Lipperscheid-Delt are located across the Sauer Valley. From Höscheid, follow the route to Ettelbrück, then take the exit to Lipperscheid, Bourscheid. Park opposite Hotel Leweck and walk 600 m to the takeoff point. Follow the paved path south to the junction with the 'Gringlay' sign, then take the forest path to the viewpoint overlooking the Sauer loop and Bourscheid Castle. A steep, strenuous climb starts just after the bridge over the Sauer, leading directly to the takeoff point in about 30 minutes. Landing Zone: U Gritt, 220 m, a meadow with a windsock. Special Notes: In stronger winds, an emergency landing field is located on the cow meadow above the Sauer loop and the campsite entrance. In strong thermodynamic winds, top landing is preferable. Approach the landing from the hillside.
