Description
This site, located in Utah, USA, offers a scenic flight experience with an elevation of 2683 meters and a height difference of 990 meters. It is occasionally used and known for its strong thermals, making it a popular spot for Hang Gliders, especially during the summer months.
The site is situated in a desert area west of Salt Lake City, just past the Stockton Bar site. To reach the launch area, you need to drive up Jacobs City Road. There are two launch spots available; the lower one is more suitable for Paragliders due to its limited space.
There is significant cross-country (XC) potential to the north, although it is limited by the Great Salt Lake and airspace restrictions. It is crucial to check the current airspace regulations, as they have improved since 2012.
Be aware of the restrictions south of the landing zone (LZ) area, and avoid flying over the army supply depot. During retrieves, ensure you close any gates you pass through. The optimal wind directions for this site are SSW, SW, and W.
The flying season runs from May through October. Winter months can restrict access due to snowfall.
