This site is regularly used for thermal soaring, with some potential for cross-country flights. There are various takeoff options available.
Region: Andalucia, Spain. The site record is 11.4 km. Soaring is best with south to southeast winds. Park at the cemetery just outside the village and walk up on the other side of the street. The area offers a great plain in front of you, looking towards Teba, making it a nice place for cross-country flying as well.

For those who don't always want to drive up to Levante with south-southeast winds, the eastern site of Cañete la Real is a good alternative. This flying area is mainly used for soaring. The takeoff spot is directly at the cliff edge near the cemetery of Cañete, which is short and steep, not suitable for beginners. For a safer takeoff, you can hike 60 meters uphill behind the cemetery to find gentler slopes.
Landing is typically done on the uncultivated fields at the foot of the slope. If you manage to gain enough altitude to cross the valley east of the takeoff spot, you will find an additional 1.5 km of ridge soaring on the next hill. The landscape is very picturesque.
