Located in Andalucia, Spain, this paragliding site offers a takeoff height of 715 meters with a height difference of approximately 150 meters. The site is regularly used for thermal soaring, and while cross-country (XC) flights are rare, they are possible. Toplanding is also an option here.
The primary takeoff point is situated near the cemetery in Cañete la Real. You can park at the cemetery just outside the village and walk up on the other side of the street. For those seeking a more secure takeoff, there is an optional takeoff spot behind the cemetery, which requires a 60-meter uphill walk. The coordinates for this takeoff are 36.945668E, 5.019516W.
The site is best suited for soaring with south to southeast winds. The landscape is quite scenic, with a great plain in front of you looking towards Teba. If you manage to gain enough altitude, you can attempt to cross the valley to the east of the takeoff point, where an additional 1.5 km of ridge lift is available on the next hill.
Landing is typically done on the uncultivated fields at the base of the hill. The takeoff area near the cemetery is short and steep, making it unsuitable for beginners.
