Description
The Buochserhorn in Nidwalden, Switzerland, offers an accessible paragliding experience with a take-off elevation of 1780 meters. The site is particularly popular for Hike&Fly enthusiasts, with a 90-minute hike on a scenic, steep path leading to the launch area. The starting point is a large, moderately steep meadow, facing southwest, making it an easy launch site.
To reach the take-off point, take the cable car from Dallenwil to Niederrickenbach, then follow the marked mountain trail. Despite what some might say, the official hiking time is 90 minutes, although signposts indicate 2 hours and 5 minutes.
The Buochserhorn is located at the entrance to the Engelberg Valley, opposite the Stanserhorn. It is especially beautiful in autumn and winter but is not suitable during strong valley winds.
Due to its proximity to the Buochs-Alpnach CTR, flight movements are somewhat restricted. However, flying towards Engelberg Valley, Musenalp, Haldigrat, and landing at one of the official landing sites in Dallenwil or Wolfenschiessen is always rewarding.
The Engelberg Valley is filled with cables and wires, so pilots must always be vigilant for obstacles.
