Access:
From Dallenwil, take the cable car to Niederrickenbach. From there, take the next cable car to Musenalp. The takeoff site is a moderately steep meadow. Follow the red and white posts from the cable car station for about 8 minutes to reach the takeoff area, which is a relatively flat, wide meadow.
The takeoff site offers a spectacular ambiance. When paragliders utilize the northwest wind and launch between the rock towers, it looks quite impressive from below. Despite its appearance, the takeoff is moderately easy and is also used for training under good conditions.
Flight:
The classic glide: A long glide flight southwest along the slope to the landing site at Brändlen. From there, take the Brändlen cable car back to the Brändlen takeoff site and fly to the Schützenhaus (an unofficial landing site near the Dallenwil valley station) and back to your car.
Thermal conditions offer many possibilities:
1. Flight to the Haldigrat cable car valley station (saves about 20 minutes of walking!)
2. Flight to Brändlen and from there to Büelen
3. Flight to Wirzweli, Gummen, and Arvigrat
4. Flight to Buochserhorn and Niederbauen
5. Via Wellenberg to Brunni, etc.
Difficulty:
None. The takeoff site is relatively flat with an impressive ambiance. A light northwest wind makes the start comfortable. Note that there is no windsock at the takeoff site.
Soaring Conditions:
Right after takeoff, you can easily gain altitude over the rocks with a northeast/northwest wind (watch out for the cable car passing through). You can then glide effortlessly to Buochserhorn, Klewenalp, or Haldigrat.
You can also glide directly over Brändlen to Haldigrat or via Brändlen to Wellenberg to gain altitude (in strong valley winds) and then to Haldigrat.
Cable Car:
A small cable car is directly to the left of the Niederrickenbach cable car station.
