Description

Elevation: 827 meters This site is occasionally used for hike & fly with many takeoff options. The best orientation for takeoff is NE, and cross-country flights are possible. Flights: - [Flight 1](http://www.paraglidingforum.com/leonardo/flight/1242637) - [Flight 2](https://www.paraglidingforum.com/leonardo/flight/2835819) - [Flight 3](https://www.paraglidingforum.com/leonardo/flight/2836229) - [Flight 4](https://www.paraglidingforum.com/leonardo/flight/1668581) - [Flight 5](https://www.paraglidingforum.com/leonardo/flight/1668559) - [Flight 6](http://www.paraglidingforum.com/leonardo/flight/1242637) Landing: There is no official landing zone. The usual landing spot is on the west side of the main road near a group of three caravans. There are several narrow but ample fields between the river and the minor road leading to the holiday cottages. If the fields are boggy, you can land on the minor road as traffic is usually very light. Alternatively, there is a large field on the east side of the river near the car park, but avoid this field if there is a strong north breeze due to rotor potential. For southwest winds, head towards Loch Venachar where there are ample fields on the north shore of the loch. Be aware of livestock and a small power line along the road. Getting There: Drive approximately 5 km northwest of Callander. About 1 km before reaching Loch Lubnaig, turn left (west) off the A84 main road at the brown sign for Strathyre holiday lodges. Cross the narrow metal bridge and turn left to park (NN 586 090 GB Grid). Comments: Cross-country flying is possible but quite committing due to the lack of roads and forested areas over the back of Ben Ledi. Flight Regulation: This site is not regulated by any clubs. You can take off above the old treeline, with a common spot being at the shoulder before the path turns sharply onto the ridge leading up to the summit (NN 572 088 GB Grid). It takes approximately 45 minutes to walk up to this point.
