Paragliding Arran Goat Fell
Best Conditions
Optimal Wind Direction
Optimal Speed (mph)
Description
Goat Fell is a rarely used paragliding site, primarily suited for hike & fly enthusiasts. Some cross-country flights are possible, with most flights oriented towards the SSW, allowing you to fly towards the coast.
Takeoff: There are two takeoff areas, both located about 50 feet below the summit. One is 50 meters north of the trig point, and the other is 50 meters south. The north takeoff splits either side of a ridge, accommodating N and W winds. The south takeoff is similar, catering to SE and SW winds. The west takeoff is challenging and only advisable in snowy conditions due to the sharp granite and lack of grass, allowing for E or NE takeoffs.
Landing: You can land in Corrie on the large grassy area next to Sandstone Quay or in the Corrie Hotel beer garden if it's not too busy. In Brodick, suitable landing areas include the beach and a large grassy area next to the shops.
