Hazards: The launch site is challenging and often turbulent. In light bise winds, there is often beautiful lee thermals, but sometimes extreme 'yo-yo' conditions. The landing sites at Bahnhof Weesen and Linthbord can be quite turbulent in strong valley winds and are unsuitable during high water levels. The delta landing site is the safest option in strong valley winds.
Info: This is an interesting area for ambitious pilots and is also suitable for less frequent flyers in autumn and winter.
Transport: Take the bus from Post Weesen to Post Amden, then walk for 40 minutes. Alternatively, drive to the launch site (note: driving is prohibited between 13:00 and 17:00 on Sundays and holidays). There are only a few parking spots, and top landing is challenging.
Ideal Wind: Not too strong SW to SE winds.
Potential: Gain altitude over Mattstock and attempt cross-country flights via Churfirsten. Crossing to Kerenzer is often straightforward.
From Weesen, take the bus to Amden. Then take the cable car to Niderschlag. Follow the hiking trail towards Alp Walau until you reach the hairpin turn at the western forest edge. Exit the forest and ascend the meadow to the launch site. This takes about 15 minutes.

From Weesen, drive to Amden. From there, walk to the transmission tower. The launch site is a small area for layout, followed by a very steep short meadow. Caution: On bise or thermally active days, there is usually strong valley wind. Fly back to Weesen early enough to avoid getting wet feet!
