The spot works best at mid to high tide with a rising tide, particularly under 6ft swells and easterly winds. It is known for its hollow and fast waves, making it a fun yet challenging location. While Tarcoola may not be the most renowned surf spot, it serves as a local favorite for casual sessions, especially when nearby reefs are flat. The beach can be empty during the week, providing ample space for surfers of all levels. However, on good days, expect a mix of surfers sharing the waves. Although conditions can be inconsistent, patience may reward you with decent rides. Access is straightforward, with a car park located right in front of the beach, making it easy to hit the water quickly.
