Sunnymead - Aireys Inlet
Sunnymead features a right-breaking reef wave with a sandy bottom interspersed with rocks. The wave is known for its fickle nature, often closing out during larger swells. It is best surfed at mid tide with rising and falling tides, and the ideal wind directions are from the north, northwest, or west.
Located between Torquay and Lorne, Sunnymead offers a rural atmosphere with stunning views along the rocky cliffline. Access requires a long walk of over 30 minutes, but the effort is rewarded with a unique surf experience. While it generally caters to mal riders and is suitable for kids, the wave can be elegant under the right conditions. Expect few surfers during the week and weekends, but be cautious of localism and rocky hazards.
