Description
Wenholthausen is one of the most beautiful southwest flying mountains in the Sauerland region of Germany. The former forest clearing has been expanded, and the local club maintains the area with great effort.
Important: You must sign in at the gas station in Wenholthausen and obtain a driving permit to access the launch site. Access is only allowed via group transports, and parking is restricted to designated areas. Top landing is permitted. Pay special attention to thermal conditions and ready-to-launch gliders. Ensure timely departure to the landing zone.

The launch site is a meadow start, and a B-license is mandatory (except for trained club members). To reach the launch site, drive from the landing meadow in Wenholthausen (sports field) past the gas station where you sign in and get a driving permit. Then, turn left towards Oesterberge, passing the Bergeshöh inn (maintain walking speed) towards the tower. Park in a disciplined manner.
Hiking to the launch site is encouraged for fitness and environmental protection. The landing zone near the sports field is not visible from the launch site, so drive to Wenholthausen first, park your car, and form carpool groups. Parking at the top is limited.
After takeoff, immediately fly to the right in front of the mountain to gain altitude or soar. If you arrive too low, you won't clear the tree line before the landing meadow, and an outlanding will cost 10 Euros.
The airspace extends from Markshöhe (near the tower) to the rear Braberg, with a 1.5-kilometer-long and up to 300-meter-high lift edge.
This site offers a good altitude difference, frequent southwest weather conditions, and is excellent for cross-country and soaring flights, but it is not suitable for beginners. A B-license and briefing are required. Sign in at the gas station in Wenholthausen, where you will also find driving permits. Remember to return the permits to the gas station afterward.
Meeting point for pilots is the landing zone at the sports field in Wenholthausen. Use group transports with other pilots. Guest pilots must register at the gas station in Wenholthausen, obtain a driving permit, and receive a briefing from club pilots.
Daily start fee for non-club members is 6 Euros, which allows flying in all club areas for the day.
