Description
Located in Italy, the Monte Maggio paragliding site offers a unique flying experience. The takeoff point is situated at an elevation of 980 meters above sea level, with a landing zone at 420 meters, resulting in a vertical drop of 560 meters. The efficiency ratio is 1:4, making it a moderately challenging site.
To reach Monte Maggio, exit the A7 at Busalla and head towards Casella. Once in the village, continue towards the Monte Maggio colony, where you can park your car and proceed on foot along the trail leading to the Cappelletta. The takeoff area is steep, facilitating an easy launch. However, be cautious not to veer left immediately after takeoff due to potential difficulties caused by the Venturi effect.
With winds from the south or southeast, dynamic soaring is possible in front of the takeoff area, and thermals can be utilized to gain altitude during the right hours. Southwesterly winds (valley breeze) allow pilots to exploit the generous thermal to the right of the takeoff or head towards Carmo to catch another thermal that enables further movement towards Monte Banca.
The landing zone is spacious and visible from the takeoff point, providing a safe and straightforward landing.
