Conditions Optimales
Description
Height: 252 meters, Height Difference: 187 meters / Easy to Medium Difficulty
This site is regularly used and offers good soaring conditions, with occasional opportunities for cross-country flights. The area is picturesque and interesting. Top landing is straightforward on the flat part of the launch site. Be mindful of launching or ground-handling pilots and avoid the lee areas behind the tree line at the edge.
Region: Germany
The launch site is large and flat, with a steep drop-off at the edge. Ensure your wing is already flying at the edge; otherwise, abort the launch. Watch out for pilots top landing. Cross the Mosel early to reach the landing zone.
The site is maintained by the Drachen- und Gleitschirm-Fliegerfreunde Rhein-Mosel-Lahn e.V. Lasserg is an excellent east-facing site above the Mosel, offering stunning scenery and interesting flying conditions. The area around the launch site is maintained in collaboration with the Mayen-Koblenz Nature Conservation Authority. To the right of the launch direction, near the castle, is a peregrine falcon nesting cliff. Maintain at least 100 meters distance during the breeding season. After launching, turn left and fly along the slope. More information can be found at: [Thermik4u - Lasserg](https://www.thermik4u.de/fluggebiete/lasserg)
The grassy slope launch is easy, but you should take off in time to cross the Mosel. Soaring and thermals are good. Note that a biotope is adjacent to the site. Towing is also possible at the launch site.
From the landing zone to the launch site:
On foot:
Walk south from the landing field to the Gasthof Klabautermann and take the ferry across. On the opposite side, walk north along the Mosel and follow the hiking trail towards Burg Bischofstein (Schoppenstecher Wanderweg), which leads to Lasserg.
By car:
Drive on the B49 towards Trier and cross the bridge at Treis-Karden. Return on the B416 along the opposite Mosel bank and turn onto the K33 towards Münstermayenfeld in Moselkern. This road leads directly past Lasserg.
