Description
Hornu is a training hill suitable for thermal and dynamic soaring. Previously closed by the police, it now appears to be reopened exclusively for FFBL members. It's recommended to ask locals for the latest updates.
To fly at Hornu, you need to be a member of the FBVL or any federation recognized by the FBVL, and have specific liability insurance. You must commit to landing at the designated official landing area on the west side, respecting the local environment, and not leaving any trash behind.
Rules and behaviors include:
- No motor vehicles are allowed at the top of the hill.
- Authorization for training must be requested in advance from the managing club.
- Exercise caution when approaching the landing area due to natural obstacles like embankments and ditches.
- The Ailes du Levant club is not responsible for any accidents on the site.
The official takeoff area is marked in purple on the provided image. The best takeoff directions are W-NW, but the site also accommodates WSW orientations.
