Description
At an altitude of 1891 meters, this paragliding site in Carinthia, Austria, offers a medium difficulty level. The west launch, located either here or slightly lower on the other side of the cable car, is less frequently used compared to the east or south launches. The wind direction is not optimal for Gerlitzen, but cross-country flights are possible.
When flying west along the Pöllinger Graben, it is not recommended as the distance to the landing zone becomes too long. If you are too low, fly over the Kanzel or around it via the saddle east of the mid-station, but be cautious of the weak lee side of the Kanzel.
As the wind shifts more towards the west or even northwest, conditions become increasingly challenging. The west launch is the most demanding, especially since west launch conditions often come with high wind speeds.
