Description

The paragliding site 'Galgebierg' in Luxembourg is managed by the Cumulux Paragliding Club A.s.b.l. This site is rarely used and is mainly suitable for local soaring and training. Before flying, each pilot must: 1. Present a valid FAI-approved pilot license with a minimum IPPI 4 rating. 2. Have valid aerial liability insurance. 3. Use a glider with a valid inspection certificate. 4. Carry a reserve parachute. 5. Use a harness with a protector. 6. Wear a helmet suitable for free flight. 7. Contact the club and get information about the site's specifics and dangers from an active club member before the first flight. 8. Keep the site clean and take all waste with them. The club reserves the right to deny access if these conditions are not met. Flight directives: 1. Visit the landing zone before each flight, check weather conditions, and observe wind socks. 2. The maximum authorized flight altitude is 1067 meters (3500 feet MSL). 3. Follow priority rules: the pilot with the slope on their right has priority. 4. Club members and "guest card" holders have priority at takeoff. 5. Due to the site's size, only 5 pilots can share the airspace simultaneously in soaring conditions. 6. Respect the airspace around the site for distance flights. Site instructions and specifics: 1. Takeoff is oriented south. 2. For safety, check if military exercises are planned on the grounds north of the takeoff area before the first flight of the day by calling (+352) 26 80 95 55. 3. Do not take photos or videos of the military site. 4. Do not fly over the military site below 150 meters. 5. Respect reserved parking spaces near the guard posts. Landing instructions: 1. Do not land at the takeoff point; landing is possible far back if altitude permits and there is no military activity. 2. The main landing area is the large meadow along the Sûre River upstream of the Gilsdorf bridge. 3. Intermediate landing is possible in the takeoff meadow and certain agricultural areas marked in red on the attached plan. Dangers: 1. Maintain a reasonable height when crossing the road before the main landing. 2. If necessary, land on the plateau and avoid landing in the valley. Parking: 1. Takeoff: Use the communal parking next to the barracks. 2. Main landing: Park near the Gilsdorf bridge or along the road downstream of the bridge.
