Description
The takeoff point is at an altitude of 1550 meters with a height difference of 780 meters. The launch direction is NNW and is rarely used. This site is suitable for soaring, but only small cross-country flights are possible. You can either top land or descend in time to reach the landing zone.
When soaring, top landing is possible but very challenging, especially in strong winds. It is recommended to land further down near the road. The landing area in Villeret is not clearly defined; typically, pilots land on a mowed meadow on the right side of the stream.
The north launch site is located about 200 meters east of the hotel, directly under the old wooden cross. It is very short (approximately 10 meters), so launching is only feasible with a light north wind. The entire ridge is also suitable for soaring flights, but it can become quite turbulent in strong winds. Flying through the 'Combe Grède' is only possible with a light north wind and should only be attempted by experienced pilots due to its complexities. The unofficial landing zone is located to the left, above Villeret, marked on the map as 'Champs des Entes.'
Soaring to the north is relatively straightforward, but caution is advised when top landing. It is recommended to land further down near the road. The flight through the 'Combe Grède' requires some flying experience and is not suitable for beginners.
