Conditions Optimales
Description
This paragliding site, with a height of 209 meters, is occasionally used and considered medium-difficult. Authorization is required to fly here.
You can enjoy a few hours of thermals over the bay. If the wind from the sea becomes too strong, simply move to a lower launch site. Nearby attractions include the beach of San Remo, Bordighera, Monte Bignone, and Monte Ceppo.
Due to ongoing construction, there is no official landing site. Strong winds and bad weather are not ideal for flying here. It's recommended to start at Bandito around midday because the wind blows from the side and behind in the afternoon, making it impossible to launch later in the day.
For Walk and Fly, the starting point for Monte Caparo and Monte Bandido is about 20 minutes below the launch sites on the mountain road above Coldirodi. From the parking lot, take the steep path up and then turn left, or take the straight path and later turn right. The path to Monte Carparo is steep, while the path to Monte Bandido is slightly inclined. For weather information in Liguria, visit [Meteo Liguria](http://www.meteoliguria.it/meteo_fr.html).
The meeting point for pilots is Ponente Flight Volo Libero, near the former beach bar in Ospedaletti. Look for the windsock. The club's website is [Ponente Flight](http://www.ponenteflight.it).
You can meet at the beach of Ospedaletti. The contact person is Enzo Mamone, reachable at +39 340 475 1905, who always has good advice on conditions and weather. Transportation to the launch site is provided by the club bus (4WD).
For accommodation, the camping site in San Remo, Villaggio dei Fiori, is a very nice place. The meeting point is reachable by bus in 10 minutes from there, and it's affordable.
The main flying mountains, Monte Nero with its 540 meters height difference and Bandito, offer beautiful flights. The launch site at Monte Nero in the curve is suitable only for evening flights with reliable wind and for experienced reverse launchers.
Check the [webcam](http://www.comune.ospedaletti.im.it/webcam/index2.php) for current conditions.
The four hills on the 'Flower Riviera' of the Ligurian coast are often seen as a photo backdrop rather than a great flying area. However, a flight down to San Remo, as promised by the classic film, can be recreated with your flying equipment. Landing at the beach should be worth a detour.
Note: The landing site on the peninsula is currently under complete renovation, making landing there impossible. The pilot bar on the beach is also being renovated. Currently, landings are made further east on a concrete area. It will be decided by May 2008 whether there will be a landing site available in the summer.
