Paragliding Calabasas, CA
Best Conditions
Optimal Wind Direction
Optimal Speed (mph)
Description
Calabasas, located in Los Angeles County between Woodland Hills and Malibu, is a popular spot for ridge soaring and training. The site is particularly good in the fall season. Pilots often start their hike at the Dog Park across from A.E. Wright School, with a 1-mile hike and an 800-foot ascent to the launch point.
The area is sensitive, so pilots need to be cautious, especially near private properties. There isn't a specific landing zone, but many hills along Mulholland Highway are used by the Malibu Paragliding Club. The conditions are suitable for beginner to intermediate pilots.
