Conditions Optimales
Description
At an altitude of 1510 meters, the Garland launch site is located just a few meters from the top station of the Brauneck cable car in Germany. This site is frequently used and offers good cross-country flying opportunities.

Caution: When a north wind sets in, conditions at Garland can become turbulent. Training flights are limited, and the glide path is relatively long. The unique location of this launch site requires increased attention when valley winds with a northern component are strong. In summer, strong thermal updrafts combined with the refreshing valley wind can create severe turbulence in the Garland basin from midday onwards. It is strongly advised against launching under these conditions as they become unpredictable. In case of doubt, seek advice from local pilots. If they are not launching, consider heading to the launch site at the transmitter or taking the cable car back down, which is free for pilots. Conditions are expected to calm down later in the afternoon.
Location: Near the top station, turbulence occurs in summer, and there is a lee situation when flying over the cirque. Suitable only for experienced pilots. Visiting or occasional pilots should consult the local school or local pilots beforehand.
