Conditions Optimales
Description
Located in the Walbrzych region of Poland, this paragliding site offers a takeoff height of 815 meters with a height difference of 129 meters. The site is frequently used and is suitable for cross-country (XC) flights. The site record is 8.3 km.
The takeoff is oriented to the north, but the best flying conditions are with winds from the northwest (NW 315°). The useful wind range is quite narrow, from 315° to 330°. A slight deviation towards the west can be dangerous due to the opposing slope. The elevation difference of the hill is about 50 meters. Landing should be done near a wooden shed, as the surrounding fields are private property and the owners do not permit trespassing.
Basic flying skills are required here. Once airborne, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Wałbrzyskie and Suche Mountains. On the leeward side of the hill, there are ski lifts and the Andrzejówka shelter. This site is recommended when the NW wind is too strong for flying at Bukowiec, as the takeoff here is much lower.
Access to the hill can be challenging due to the lack of distinctive landmarks in the village. After entering Rybnica Leśna, locate the intersection near the 'Darz Bór' restaurant. From there, take the road leading uphill towards the shelter and ski lifts. Look for a roadside concrete power pole with a transformer on the right side, and a hydro station on the left. Park your car near the hydro station and walk to the visible takeoff site under the forest. The takeoff site is located on the slope above, in a niche between the forest wall and dense young growth.
Public transportation access is practically impossible due to the remote location.

This inconspicuous hill at Rybnica Leśna offers two takeoff sites: an old lower one exposed to NW winds, and a new upper one directed northwards. The broad slope provides ample space for ridge soaring, and thermals from the valley offer good opportunities for XC flights, which have become more popular since the opening of the upper takeoff spot.
