Best Conditions
Description
Located in the Kaltbrunn region of Switzerland, this paragliding site offers a launch altitude of 1041 meters and a height difference of 600 meters. It is a popular spot for hike & fly enthusiasts and is frequently used by pilots. The site is known for good soaring conditions and offers some potential for cross-country (XC) flights, although these can be challenging.
To reach the launch site, you can travel approximately 5 kilometers on the road from Steinenbrugg, or take a slightly shorter route via the hiking trail.
Once airborne, pilots can connect directly with thermals, providing opportunities for distance flights. However, achieving this can be difficult. A common route involves gaining altitude near Federi and then flying towards Kerenzer, or alternatively, heading via Mattstock or Durschlegi towards the Churfirsten range. The best flying conditions are typically from spring to autumn.
