Description

Level: Intermediate, Expert Type: Ocean Water type: Shallow Water hazards: Rocks, Shells Water quality: Cloudy Infos: The flat water is on top of and on the far side of the deep water channel. You need to be good at going upwind if the wind is very westerly, particularly when the tide is at its lowest as the deep water channel which you have to tack upwind in can get narrow when the sandbank dries out. Coming back to the beach can involve a downwinder in choppy water. Beach type & size: Grass, Sand - Depending on Tide Infos: Pump up on the grass. Beach is small at high tide, but you need to have a tidal depth of around 2.5m and below to get far enough away from the cliffs and trees. This is around mid to low tide. Identified hazards: Rocks, Shells, Trees Beachgoer: January, February, November, December Best months: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December Access description: by Car - Park at the southernmost end of Portage Road and walk down the slope to the park.
