Surf Karekare

Karekare - New Zealand Karekare features a beach break with both right and left-hand waves over a sandy bottom. The waves can be ordinary to fun, making it a versatile spot for surfers. It works best at low and mid tide, particularly with rising and falling tides, and is optimal with east to northeast winds and swells from the west and southwest. This picturesque beach, located near Auckland, offers instant access with a short walk from the carpark. While it can get crowded on weekends, it remains relatively empty during the week. The main wave breaks off the rocks at the right end of the beach, but caution is advised due to strong rips and currents, especially on bigger days. Karekare is a great place to enjoy powerful waves, but surfers should be fit and aware of the conditions before heading out.
