Description
Blackfellows - South Australia
Blackfellows is a powerful left-hand reef break characterized by hollow, fast, and powerful waves. The bottom consists of sharp limestone reef, making it a challenging spot for surfers. Located just out of Elliston on the point of Anxious Bay, access requires a good walk of 15-30 minutes, and it is publicly accessible.
This surf spot is renowned for its intensity and is not for the faint-hearted. The waves here can be unforgiving, with a significant risk of rips, undertow, and encounters with sharks. Best surfed at mid to high tide, Blackfellows works well with south-west swell and south-east to east winds. The atmosphere is intense, surrounded by deep channels, and the experience of getting barreled here is unforgettable. With few surfers on weekdays and weekends, it offers a remote surfing experience, but caution is advised due to the inherent dangers.
