Description
The previously main launch site is now closed and difficult to access. It is no longer safe for flying. The large and safe take-off area is closed, and road traffic to Lassithi is now diverted right in front of the landing field. Road expansion works have begun, taking part of the landing field. Additionally, power lines are now situated at the edge of the landing field. Starting points: - At 620m altitude, accommodating up to 7 gliders with facilities. - At 540m altitude, accommodating up to 2 gliders. Preferred wind directions are NE, N, and NW. The drive to the site takes approximately 20 minutes. The landing area is at 220m altitude, covering 6,000m² with facilities. Types of flying include soaring, thermals, and cross-country (XC). This site is located on Crete, with the take-off on Mount AV. Marina and the landing place near Avdou village. The area has a microclimate, allowing for almost daily flights.
