This site is known for its excellent northerly conditions and is considered the best in the district for such winds. It offers a large and extensive area with very large, easy top and bottom landings. The terrain downwind can be challenging, but on a good day, pilots often explore back to Great Dodd and across to Clough Head. The site supports walk-and-fly activities and is regularly used for soaring. Cross-country flights are possible, and there are many takeoff options available.
