Parapente Whakatane Heads

Located in Whakatane, New Zealand, this paragliding site is occasionally used due to its challenging takeoff conditions. The takeoff area is small, steep, and somewhat scruffy, requiring a good 45-minute walk to reach. The site is best suited for local soaring with winds coming from the WNW direction. However, takeoffs can be difficult, especially with winds from the SW. The site has a recorded flight distance of 14.6 km, but it is rarely logged by pilots.
