Conditions Optimales
Description
The take-off site is located at an altitude of 2100 meters and is oriented towards the southwest. It is an easy launch site, situated on a large, moderately steep meadow. There is no cable car available, so you will need to hike to reach it. The coordinates for the take-off are 8.24721576, 46.82273789, and the hike takes approximately 75 minutes.
To get there, start from Sachseln and drive up the mountain road to Älggi. From Älggi, follow the hiking trail to the summit. The area is particularly favorable for soaring flights when there is a north wind or a bise. The flight towards Sarnersee is especially enjoyable and the region is known for its excellent soaring conditions during a bise.
However, be aware of the special airspace regulations for paragliders and hang gliders in this area. The CTR (Control Zone) of Buochs/Alpnach and the TMA (Terminal Control Area) of Buochs/Alpnach/Emmen must be observed. Outside of tower operating hours (Monday to Friday, 07:30-12:05 and 13:15-17:05), the Stans flight area can generally be flown without restrictions and without radio communication. However, you must check the current status before flying by calling +41 41 620 91 06. This exception can be revoked, especially on weekends or weekdays with short notice. Violations are strictly enforced by air traffic control.

The hike to the take-off point starts in Sachseln and follows a scenic route through various landmarks and alpine meadows. The starting point is Sachseln (472 m), and the trail passes by the beautiful 17th-century village church, through Steinen, along the Steinibach stream, and up to Hinterbüelen (706 m). From there, it continues through the Schwandenwald forest to the alpine meadows of Schwanden (1100 m) and up to Alp Burgletsfluh (1188 m). The trail then leads to the Stuckli cross (1800 m) and further to Arnigrat (2018 m). You can choose between a route via Stockalp or a more westerly path via Alp Astel. The final stretch to the Hausberg Wandelen (2124 m) requires some caution.
For the descent, you can take a direct path to the valley via the Alps Mettental, Ob. and Unter Mus to Edisried (5157 m) near Sachseln, or follow the trail to Alp Chlister and then to Alp Aelggi (1666 m), the geographical center of Switzerland. There are refreshment options in Sachseln, Aelggi, and Edisried.
The landing site is in Sachseln.
