Paragliding Valdres, Bitihorn top

At approximately 1600 meters, this site is rarely used but offers panoramic flights ideal for hike & fly enthusiasts. The easiest way to fly here is to park your car at Båtskaret and walk to the south side of Bitihorn. If conditions are favorable, you won't need to walk more than 7-8 minutes. For optimal lift, a bit of wind is beneficial. This allows for ridge soaring and interaction with hikers ascending the mountainside. On good days, thermals rise up the mountainside, and catching the right cycle can make the 400-meter ascent to the top seem effortless. If you can't maintain lift, landing on one of the nearby marshes is straightforward, and it's a short walk back to the launch site. There are plenty of barren mountain areas and marshes available for landing. The image shows Beitostølen with Bitihorn as the highest peak in the background.
