Parapente Tateyama Sanroku Flight Area Elekakasezaka

The Tateyama Sanroku Flight Area is located near the Tateyama Cable Station, serving as the gateway to the Central Mountain National Park (Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route) in Toyama Prefecture, Japan. This paragliding site is based at the Tateyama Mountain Foothills Ski Resort. The flight season runs from April to November. During the winter months (December to March), when the ski resort is operational, there are restrictions on takeoff and landing, so prior confirmation and reservation are necessary. The site features two main takeoff points. On weekends, you can reach the upper takeoff point by connecting two lifts. On weekdays, you can drive to the middle part and then climb to either the third takeoff in the middle or the second takeoff higher up. The area has hosted numerous national competitions, including the Japanese Championship twice. The 1995 convention was particularly notable, with seven tasks completed each day over a week. The site offers a stunning view of the North Alps and provides ample airspace with wide valleys and favorable air currents. The primary takeoff point, Gokurakusaka Takeoff, faces N, NE, SW, and W, with a launch altitude of 1,070 meters above sea level. The landing zone is at 550 meters above sea level, with a 500-meter altitude difference between launch and landing. The site is suitable for novice pilots (ParaPro stage 3) under supervision and intermediate pilots (ParaPro stage 4) and above. Visitor fees are JY1,500 per day, plus JY600 for a one-way lift ticket.
