Sweetwater, California Elevation: 2670 meters Height Difference: 450 meters This site is rarely used, primarily by hang gliders. Cross-country flights are possible from here. The site is unregulated, and it's recommended for pilots with an H3 rating. H2 pilots can fly here but should do so with an instructor and only under appropriate conditions, typically later in the day. There is some debate about whether this site is suitable for H2 pilots due to the long glide required to reach the landing zone (LZ). Strong winds are common, and in such conditions, it's advisable to use the secondary landing zone (LZ2).
