Note: The Papillon FlyCard does not grant permission to start and fly at this site. It only permits flights at Papillon sites Elpe, Wirmighausen, and Stormbruch.
Landing at Stüppel: The landing field has been changed. Do not land on the 'Schlammteich' anymore. Top landing on the meadows on the mountain is now strictly prohibited.
The site is thermally very good for northwest winds. Stüppel is located directly above the Fort Fun amusement park. Access to the launch site is via Wasserfall near the chapel, but only with a permit available at the 'Zur Sonne' guesthouse in Andreasberg.
The launch is through a clearing, and there is a risk of lee-side turbulence with strong west or north winds. Pay attention to wind indicators. The clearing was significantly widened around 2012.
The landing site is not visible from the launch site, so it is essential to inspect it before driving up, especially noting the high-voltage power line. Please park cars along the roadside and form carpool groups.
