Flying at 'Glasberg' is prohibited due to the lack of landing areas. However, flying at 'Spielberg,' located 100 meters north, is allowed. This site offers opportunities for soaring and some cross-country flying, especially for club members. It's best to ask the locals for more details. The Spielberg site is frequently used and offers excellent conditions for soaring, thermals, and cross-country flights. Top landing is possible. The region is Friedelshausen in Germany, with a site record of 121.6 km. The area is suitable for east/northeast winds and strong thermals. In the mornings, east winds provide excellent training conditions. Thermals typically start late in the morning, and by around 2 PM, a large ridge lift area often develops, allowing for excellent altitude gains until the evening. Landing should be done on the fields of the agricultural cooperative at the foot of Spielberg near Hümpfershausen, avoiding agricultural land. For weather conditions, strong thermals are common with east winds. Beginners should take advantage of the calm air in the mornings and evenings for ridge soaring. For dining, visit Gasthof Zur Post in the center of Hümpfershausen, where guests also pay their launch fee. For more information, contact local Rhöner pilots or the local gastronomy. The site is managed by RDGW GmbH and RDG e.V. Parking is available in the village, either at Gasthof Zur Post or at the designated parking area near the sports field. A hiking trail leads to the launch site. The village of Friedelshausen has had some conflicts with local farmers, making flying challenging. However, the rest of the Hümpfershausen/Friedelshausen community is welcoming to pilots. The Glasberg is the best ridge for north winds, with strong thermals in spring allowing for long flights.
