Description

The launch site at Hohe Geba in Germany, with an elevation of 551 meters and a height difference of approximately 130 meters, is regularly used for paragliding. It offers some opportunities for soaring and thermal flying, with occasional possibilities for cross-country flights. Before flying, it's advisable to consult with local pilots regarding landing spots. For more information on specific flights, you can check the following links: [Flight 1](http://xc.dhv.de/xc/modules/leonardo/index.php?name=leonardo&op=show_flight&flightID=320825) [Flight 2](http://xc.dhv.de/xc/modules/leonardo/index.php?name=leonardo&op=show_flight&flightID=303616) To reach the site, drive from Herpf towards Bettenhausen, then Helmershausen, and continue towards Geba. Park before the sharp left turn at the sign for the site. Access is via a field path uphill, which takes about 10 minutes. Note that driving up is only allowed for club members. A day membership fee of €5 can be paid at Träbeser Bauernstübchen. For takeoff, you can either start in the lift band (if available) or directly in the thermals in front of the slope edge. Thermals often break off below the edge, allowing you to gain altitude near the slope. Flights along the Geba are often possible when gaining altitude. Landing is usually done at the top, but only for experienced pilots. Otherwise, land at the foot of the slope on the meadow. The main landing area is a large meadow along the connecting road between Bettenhausen and Helmershausen. Do not walk up the slope; use the hiking trail instead, as it is a nature reserve/biosphere reserve. Be cautious of the wind direction, which should always be facing the slope. Turbulence can occur with slight deviations and wind speeds over 25 km/h due to the hill in the southwest. Not paying the day membership fee can also lead to issues. Rules: - Right of way applies on the slope. - Be considerate and avoid top landing if pilots are in the start window. - Club members have the authority to give instructions. - Request a site briefing before your first flight. - Park considerately to allow space for others. - Do not litter. For more details, visit [Gebaflieger](http://www.gebaflieger.de/). The southwest launch site above Helmershausen at the southwestern foot of Hohe Geba offers excellent thermal potential. However, the mountain is rarely suitable for soaring, but good thermals often provide fantastic flying experiences. The attractive slope terrain of Gebaflieger e.V. is ideal with wind from the southwest. The site is located on the slopes of Geba in a nature reserve. Access is via the road between Helmershausen and Geba (Flattigsweg). Never drive over the meadows (nature conservation). Visiting pilots should register at the mountain inn Neidhardskopf and pay the start fee.
