Description
The launch site is situated at the upper end of the ski slope with a view of Aalen. Do not launch during ski and sled operations. Be cautious of the challenging launch through the forest clearing.
Flying in the clearing can be turbulent due to a 90° turn in the middle of the ski slope, especially in stronger winds. Pay attention to wind direction, ideally between 350° and 40°, depending on the chosen launch site.
There is a risk when the wind is from the northwest and east. Therefore, it is essential to get guidance from local club members.
Landing area: Ski slope near the valley station.
The forest clearing often experiences significant lee turbulence even in moderate winds, making it unsuitable for beginners unless the wind is weak.
The launch is relatively flat, and the initial flight path is through the forest clearing (lee). Lift is usually only possible at the steep slope, with the clearing turning almost 90° beforehand.
This site is less suitable for hang gliders.
