Conditions Optimales
Description
Located in the Brunnen region of Switzerland, this paragliding site offers an elevation of 1223 meters and is considered easy to fly. It is a popular spot with good soaring conditions, especially when the Bise (a cold north-easterly wind) or north wind is present. Some cross-country flying is possible here.
The launch site, Schwand, is situated at 1250 meters and can be reached with a 15-minute walk from the mountain station. The coordinates are 47° 00' 50'' N, 8° 35' 05'' E. The launch area is a moderately steep meadow, ideal for soaring when the Bise is blowing.
Flights can be made towards Seewen or back to the valley station. To return to the valley station, after launching, fly along the slope to the right and before the high-voltage power line, turn right into the lee. Returning in the lee is manageable if the wind is not too strong.
The best time to launch is in the afternoon or evening, as the site is in the shade during the morning. The launch directions are North, Northeast, and Northwest.
To get there, take the train from Brunnen to Urmiberg, followed by a 15-minute walk. Note that flying to Brunnen is not recommended in strong Bise conditions. There is a transport cable running north from the farm to the right of the launch site, which must be considered when soaring close to the slope. If the altitude is insufficient for crossing to Brunnen, you can land in Seewen (Kiener) and take the train back to Brunnen.
