In summer, you can take advantage of the convergence from around 6 PM, allowing for long evening flights, though conditions may not always be calm. Soaring is best with a nice south-southwest wind. Thermals start around 11 AM. At sunset, expect light downdrafts. The area at the foot of Sassalbo (Marble Mountain) is particularly spectacular. The launch is easy, making it ideal for beginners and less experienced pilots. However, always observe the wind strength on the lake, as it can become strong in the afternoon. Avoid flying in north winds. There are no official landing sites, and you should not land in tall grass from May 1st to mid-June. Always inspect the area and ask for advice if needed. The valley wind in summer can be significant. Arno Jochum is a helpful contact for weather and landing information. He also offers unforgettable tandem paragliding flights from various launch points in Valposchiavo. There are five excellent launch sites and many landing options. It's crucial to only launch and land on mowed fields. From May 10th to June 10th, landing on meadows is prohibited due to high grass, but other good landing spots are available—Arno can provide guidance. Best flying conditions are from April to November. Be prepared for stronger valley winds from 1 PM to 6 PM in June, July, and August. Launch sites are accessible by private car via good natural roads. There are no restrooms, so plan accordingly. Flying in north wind conditions is extremely dangerous. Carpooling is recommended as parking on the mountain is limited.
