Paragliding Rigi Kulm

Located in Switzerland, this paragliding site offers an elevation range of 1750-1790 meters and is suitable for easy to medium-level pilots. It is regularly used for soaring and leisure flights, with the potential for medium cross-country (XC) flights. The main launch site is situated here. The launch site is positioned on a hill just below the Kulm-Weg. After takeoff, pilots need to fly over several hills. It is recommended to use a glider with the best glide ratio and, once sufficient altitude is gained, to fly left over the abyss. This launch site is ideal in light wind conditions or with south/east winds. You can reach it by taking the cogwheel train to the final station, Kulm. The viewing platform near the antenna is worth a visit. Alternatively, from Bitznau, take the cogwheel train to the final station, Kulm. For the south launch sites, ascend behind the shed. For the east launch site, proceed horizontally to the edge and then follow it downward to the launch site near the cross. In light south winds, you can lay out your glider 50 meters below the antenna, just below the paved path. For east winds, lay out 200 meters further down, east of Kulmhütte, where it is more sheltered. Good thermals can be found from late morning on the south slope between Kulm and Klösterli. Rigi is one of Switzerland's most famous excursion destinations, offering breathtaking views from the Eastern Swiss Alps to the Bernese Oberland's 4000-meter peaks and out into the Swiss Plateau. Rigi provides launch sites for every wind direction and is accessible via multiple mountain railways. The cogwheel train ride itself is an experience. Rigi-Scheidegg is a superb Bise wind flying area above Goldau, offering fantastic views extending far beyond Zug and into the Swiss Plateau.
