At an altitude of approximately 2200 meters, this paragliding site in Galtür, Austria, is occasionally used and offers various possibilities even with pure west winds. There is no cable car; access is only via shuttle. Pilots often gather at Gasthof/Hotel Silbertaler, which is also the departure point for the flight school's shuttle. Be mindful of the Föhn and valley wind systems. North wind turbulence is possible, but the launch and landing areas are generally unproblematic. Pilots flying too far into the Jamtal should consider the return flight, which can be hindered by valley winds. Turbulence may also occur due to cold air masses descending from the glaciers.
