Paragliding Narikurayama Flight Area Nagisozan

Narikurayama Flight Area is one of the top paragliding sites in Niigata Prefecture, particularly known for its excellent thermals from late April to early May. Even during the summer, pilots can gain significant altitude due to the site's favorable conditions. From mid-September, many fallow fields become available for landing, making it ideal for cross-country flights. Located in Kamihara, Uonuma-shi, Niigata Prefecture, the site is easily accessible. By car, it's just a 3-minute drive from the Koide ramp of the Kan'etsu Expressway to the landing field. If you prefer public transport, it's a 5-minute journey from Urasa Station on the JR Joetsu Shinkansen. The flying season extends from late April to November. The takeoff area, Narikurayama Takeoff, faces multiple directions (N, S, SW, W, NW) and features a mild slope. It has a launch platform of 800m² at an altitude of 540m above sea level. The GPS coordinates for the takeoff are N37°12′47″ E139°00′13″. The altitude difference between takeoff and landing is 420m, with a distance of 2,000m between the two points. The landing area is flat, measuring 100m by 40m, and is situated at an altitude of 120m above sea level. The GPS coordinates for the landing are N37°13′17″ E138°58′57″. It takes about 30 minutes by car to travel from the landing area back to the takeoff point. For those interested in local attractions, the site is near the Yunotani-onsen hot spring resort, offering numerous hot spas.
