Conditions Optimales
Description
Located at an altitude of 1311 meters, this paragliding site in Italy is considered medium-difficult. It is frequently used and offers good cross-country (XC) flying opportunities. The site record is 53.9 km.
To reach the take-off area at Alpe Quaggione, drive past the picnic area, turn immediately right, and continue up a few hairpin bends until you reach a small dirt parking lot. From there, it's about a 15-minute walk to the launch zone.
Flights typically take place in the border area between the large lakes and the Alps, providing pilots of all levels with stunning views. From Mottarone, you can see Lake Orta, Lake Maggiore, Lake Mergozzo, and several Lombard lakes. To the northwest, the Alpine chain with the impressive Monte Rosa massif is visible.
Flying at Quaggione is possible year-round, although heavy snowfall in winter can make the road impassable. The recommended flying season is from March to October. Spring is particularly good for interesting cross-country flights towards Valle Strona or Val Vigezzo, but these are advisable only for experienced pilots due to the scarcity of landing spots and some specific micrometeorological conditions.
