Description
Located in the Bad Reichenhall region of Germany, this paragliding site offers a launch altitude of approximately 1630 meters with a height difference of 1160 meters. The site is regularly used and suitable for hike & fly activities, typically taking more than 1.5 hours to reach. Cross-country flights are possible from here.
There are various launch points available, ranging from 1400 to 1700 meters in altitude. The most commonly used launch site is at 1615 meters, featuring a flat summit plateau that drops steeply to the south. It is crucial to have wind conditions from the south to southwest for a successful launch. Due to the steep drop, a controlled launch abort is hardly possible, making this site suitable only for experienced pilots.
Thermal connections are most easily found above the scree field east of Bartelmahd. The valley wind, particularly strong from the east in spring, flows up the Saalach Valley, making the thermals along the rugged rock walls quite turbulent.
