Description
Marbach, Switzerland is a highly popular paragliding site, known for its excellent soaring conditions and potential for cross-country (XC) flights. This is the main launch site for paragliders in the area, offering a fantastic year-round flying experience with robust infrastructure. The launch sites are easily accessible via the mountain cable car, and the landing zones are conveniently located near the cable car stations. This site is suitable for both beginners and experienced XC pilots. However, be cautious of the strong valley winds that can occur during the summer.
The launch site is situated at an altitude of 1480 meters and is classified as medium difficulty. It is accessible by a short 3-minute walk from the Marbach gondola lift to Marbachegg. The launch area is a steep meadow within a forest clearing, providing good protection against Föhn winds, making it flyable even when other sites are not. It is also a great spot for soaring, especially under Bise wind conditions.
Coordinates for the launch site are approximately 7.90527581, 46.83498953. Note that the exact location may vary slightly, and there are alternative launch spots further north along the ridge and lower down the path.
