Take-off from Mount Coccovello at 1200 meters. Landing is at Maratea's Aquafredda beach, right at sea level. You can access the take-off spot by car. This location is also popular for SIV training in Southern Italy. There are various takeoff options within 200 meters, making it suitable for acro over water and SIV courses. Turn right opposite the pharmacy, then right again at the barrier, and drive uphill through the forest to the saddle and the end of the asphalt road near the transmission facility. Park there, then walk north for about 10 minutes along the forest edge to the flat grassy saddle. Alternatively, you can start from the summit (S, SW) with a 50-minute walk. This site offers beautiful high-altitude flights, especially on stable weather days. Start early in humid conditions to avoid rapid cloud formation. Fly out to the right flank from the start and use the southern thermals over the rock ridge up to Punta dei Crivi. Be cautious of north winds. With good altitude gain, you can fly south towards the Christ statue and further to Castrocucco or even Praia a Mare (minimum base 1200 meters). Landing is at Spiagga Luppa, Aquafredda, easily recognizable by its double beach separated by a hotel complex (Hotel Gabbiano in Aquafredda).
