Located in Switzerland, this paragliding site offers a launch altitude of 2282-2295 meters. It is occasionally used and offers some potential for cross-country (XC) flights. The site is accessible year-round and features various launch options.
To reach the launch site, take the Jungfraubahn from Grindelwald to the Eiger Glacier station. From there, it's a 5-minute walk downhill. The launch area is situated 50 meters past the Eiger Glacier workshop. The launch site is relatively flat and faces Kleine Scheidegg. Be aware that the wind can be irregular, with occasional light glacier downdrafts. Flights can be directed towards Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald. Usage of the site is free of charge.
The launch window is oriented towards the northeast, west, and northwest, and is considered easy in terms of difficulty. The elevation at the launch site is 2300 meters, and there is a cable car available for access. Coordinates for the site are 7.97109, 46.57543.
The best time for launching is typically between 12:00 and 18:00. The site is not suitable during Föhn conditions due to potential side winds and downdrafts. It offers beautiful autumn or evening flights along the base of the Eiger. For landing in Lauterbrunnen or Stechelberg, registration with the heliport is mandatory.
