Description
Windenschlepp is a paragliding site in Germany, established in 2012. It offers launch options in all directions with various towing tracks within a 1km radius. The site has seen some cross-country flights, with a site record of 48.8 km. For more details, visit: http://gleitschirmflieger-asslar.npage.de/Windenstartplatz and http://gleitschirmflieger-asslar.npage.de/schleppgelaende-hohensolms.html.
On June 26, 2012, the towing track was cleared using a quad, and several test flights were conducted. Release heights reached around 270 meters in calm conditions, despite the towing track being only 700 meters long, which is shorter than in Asslar. The site is promising, especially because the tow is over a 70-meter-high slope, making it excellent for soaring. The panoramic views are stunning and worth experiencing firsthand.
To maintain the site, it is crucial to adhere to certain rules. The local community, except for hunters, has been very friendly, and we aim to keep it that way. Farmers have allowed us to drive through their fields for a compensation fee, which is essential for towing operations.
Please refer to the site plan to see where to park and the paths to the launch area. If launching from the top, park on Steinstraße. If launching from the bottom, park on Höhenweg. Do not drive personal vehicles onto the site; only the towing vehicle is permitted.
Additional flying rules will be explained on-site for better understanding.
